Terms and conditions
The rules for using this website and the conditions for taking part in the italiAMO Italian language course. We have written them in plain English: if something does not add up, ask before you enroll.
This page still contains placeholders highlighted in red: they must be filled in before the site goes live.
Who runs this site
The site italiamo.site is operated by LEGAL NAME OF THE ENTITY REGISTERED IN LEBANON, with registered office at FULL ADDRESS, BEIRUT, LEBANON, registered under COMMERCIAL REGISTER NUMBER.
Contact: edu.italiamo@gmail.com. Below, “we” means italiAMO; “you” means whoever visits the site or enrolls on the course.
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, the remedy is simple: do not use it.
What you will find here
This site does two things: it describes the italiAMO Italian language course, and it collects enrollment applications and messages from people who want to know more.
The information is prepared and kept up to date with care, but it is descriptive: the calendar, timetable, levels, number of places and fees can change, and what counts is what we confirm to you in writing when your enrollment is accepted. Nothing here is a binding offer to the public.
How enrollment works
The enrollment form is an application, not a contract. Sending it commits you to nothing, and commits us to nothing either.
The path is this:
- You fill in and submit the form, ticking the consent to data processing.
- We get back to you for an interview or a level test, if one is needed to place you in the right group.
- We confirm in writing that a place is available, along with the calendar and the fee.
- The contract is formed by your acceptance and payment as set out in that message.
Places are limited for teaching reasons, and are allocated by order of arrival and by how well your level fits the groups being formed. We may decline an application; if that happens we will tell you, and delete your data within the periods set out in the privacy notice.
The information you give us must be true and complete. Claiming a higher level than your real one does nobody a favour, least of all you.
Fees and payment
The course fee, the payment methods and any instalments are set out in COURSE FEE AND PAYMENT TERMS — TO BE COMPLETED and are confirmed to you in writing before enrollment is finalised. No amount is ever charged through this site: the site handles no payments and never asks for card details or bank credentials.
If anyone asks you for a payment in the name of italiAMO by any method other than those we confirmed to you in writing, stop and write to us at edu.italiamo@gmail.com before going any further.
Invoicing terms, any applicable taxes and currency: TO BE COMPLETED.
Calendar, attendance and delivery
The course runs to the calendar communicated on confirmation. We may make reasonable organisational changes — move a lesson, change room, replace the teacher if prevented from attending — giving you as much notice as we can.
Should we cancel the course before it starts, or interrupt it for reasons attributable to us, you are entitled to a refund of the sums paid for the part not delivered.
Attendance is in your own interest: MINIMUM ATTENDANCE THRESHOLD FOR THE CERTIFICATE, IF ANY — TO BE COMPLETED. Absences do not give a right to individual catch-up lessons unless otherwise agreed.
Withdrawal, cancellation and refunds
The cancellation and refund terms are: CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY — TO BE COMPLETED: how many days before the start, what percentage, any non-refundable deposit.
If you are in the European Union and acting as a consumer, the rights the law gives you still stand even where these terms say otherwise — including, where a contract is concluded at a distance and the conditions are met, the right to withdraw within fourteen days.
What we commit to, and what we cannot promise
We commit to teaching the course with skill and care, to following your progress, and to guiding you through the Italian university application process as described on the course pages.
There are things, though, that do not depend on us, and it is right that they be clear beforehand rather than afterwards:
- We do not guarantee that you will reach a given level (A2, B1, B2 or otherwise), nor that you will pass a certification exam. Level depends on study, attendance and each person’s starting point.
- We do not guarantee admission to an Italian university, nor the outcome of a Universitaly pre-application, an entrance test or a ranking. Those are decisions for the universities and the Italian authorities.
- We do not guarantee the issue of a study visa. That is a decision for the Italian diplomatic missions alone, over which we have no influence whatsoever.
We accompany you through these steps, explain how they work, and help you present yourself as well as possible. The final decision, however, belongs to others.
Site content and teaching materials
The text, photographs, illustrations, the italiAMO name and the visual design of this site are protected by copyright and belong to us or to those who licensed them to us.
You may read, print and share the pages for personal, non-commercial use, citing the source. You may not reproduce, adapt or reuse them commercially without our written consent.
The same applies, all the more so, to the teaching materials handed out during the course: they are for you, not for redistribution. Sharing them outside the class, uploading them to platforms or reselling them is not allowed.
How to use the site
A few rules of common sense. You may not:
- send unlawful, offensive or defamatory content through the forms, or other people’s data without the right to do so;
- use automated systems to send enrollment applications or messages in bulk;
- attempt to reach the private area or parts of the database that do not concern you, or interfere with how the site runs.
We may suspend access and delete content belonging to anyone who breaks these rules, and in serious cases report the matter to the authorities.
Links to other sites
Some pages point to sites we do not run: Italian universities, official portals such as Universitaly, WhatsApp. We link to them because they are useful, but we are not responsible for their content or their data practices. Once you leave italiamo.site, the terms of the site you land on apply.
Limitation of liability
We do what we can to keep the site available and the information correct, but we do not warrant that it will run without interruption or error: that depends partly on third-party providers and on the network.
To the extent the applicable law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss arising from the use or the inability to use the site. Nothing written here limits our liability in the cases where the law does not permit it — wilful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury — nor the mandatory rights of consumers.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Lebanese law. The courts of Beirut have jurisdiction over any dispute.
If, however, you enrolled as a consumer resident in the European Union, this clause does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you may still bring proceedings before the courts where you live. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform, at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Changes to these terms
We may update these conditions; if we do, we will change the date at the top of the page. Changes apply going forward and do not affect enrollments already confirmed, which stay governed by the terms in force when they were confirmed. If an update concerns a course already running and affects your rights, we will tell you directly.
If a clause does not hold
If part of these terms turns out to be void or unenforceable, the rest remains valid. The clause that falls away will be replaced by the lawful one closest to the original intention.
